UMBRA. Director's Statement

I am thrilled to present "UMBRA," the fifth installment in the "HUMAN CONCEPTS" series, a film that explores the elusive nature of divinity and morality against a backdrop of pervasive darkness.

This project is a reflection of my personal conflict with the dichotomies that define much of our world. It is easy to fall into viewing everything as black or white, right or wrong… Dichotomies that are deeply ingrained in our culture, from literature and art to the fundamental notions of day and night. “UMBRA" challenges these binary perspectives, suggesting that such dichotomies are merely human constructs, not reflective of the universe's vast complexities.

I believe that good and evil, right and wrong, are not absolutes. Life and the universe encompass shades, colors, and ethical considerations, far beyond these two choices. To learn, is to see beyond the black and white spectrum that too often leads our daily decisions in the world.

In "UMBRA," we travel across the world to witness a solar eclipse, a celestial phenomenon that profoundly impacts those who observe it. This film uses the eclipse as a powerful metaphor to explore the internal and societal conflicts between light and shadow.

Thank you for taking the time to engage with "UMBRA." I hope the film resonates with you, provoking thought and perhaps a new way of seeing in the darkness of the world.

From Barcelona with love,

Andres.
